Count on Britney Spears to steal the spotlight at a soiree, even when she's not even doing anything.

Brit, along with dad Jamie Spears, made a late appearance at Phil Maloof's Beverly Hills music-label bash for the Rev Theory band Wednesday night.

"The Spears family is very close friends with the the Maloof family and vice versa," a source tells E!. "They came out to support them."

The popster arrived around 11:30, as the party was dying down, and held court in a roped-off VIP room at the front of the house.

"It was like an exhibit at a zoo," says another partygoer, Katie Thiele. "There was a line of people waiting to look in and see the Britney exhibit."

Britney, who was drinking Coke and smoking, didn't seem fazed. But one unwelcome party guest got under her dad's skin.

A paparazzo snuck in to the private party—meant to celebrate the band's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live—posing as an event photographer. Brit's dad quickly recognized the snapper and told him to leave.

"He said, 'You're just like Adnan,' " a source tells E!.

Brit, wearing a black minidress, seemed to be enjoying herself, despite the party-crashing pap. "She looked great," Thiele says. "She was chatting with friends. She looked like she was having a good time."

Britney Spears might have kissed Madonna at VMA’s in 2003, but don’t expect her to play a killer lesbian stripper in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film.

Britain’s Daily Telegraph reported that the pop star would return to the big screen in a remake of the 1965 cult film "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!," directed by Tarantino.

"Quentin is convinced Britney will be brilliant. She’s delighted. She thinks it could turn her career around," a source told the British paper. "It is perfect Tarantino material. He wanted to get Britney first. She’s playing the most important character."

A rep for Brit denied the reports, telling Access Hollywood, "Though she definitely intends to explore acting roles down the road, right now she’s concentrating on recording her next album."

Brit's camp weren't the ones shooting down the outlandish casting.

A source close to Quentin Tarantino told Access, "There is no truth to this."

Recent snaps of Britney Spears holidaying in Mexico with a dancing mystery man were not the result of the recovering pop wreck tipping off paparazzi, claims her people.

Rumours have emerged that the Toxic singer deliberately posed for photographers during a recent break in Cabo San Lucas, and then took a cut of the sale price.

According to PageSix, a photograph of her wearing a white bikini and swimming with dolphins was "set up by her camp".

But a spokesman for Spears has refuted the allegations.

The representative says: "If someone is trying to sell photos of Britney in Cabo, they're doing so without her knowledge or permission."

Britney Spears' filmed scenes for Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour could be cut out, it has emerged. The 'Like a Virgin' singer and Spears recorded the scenes to be broadcast on huge screens.

But Madonna -- known to friends as Em -- "hates" the video and is thinking about getting rid of it altogether.

A source close to Madonna says, "Britney looks amazing in the video but Em watched it and told them to take it out because she hated it.

"It was a scene where Britney was pretending to rip her own hair out."

It was claimed earlier this week that Madonna is in "meltdown" mode and has been ordered to cut back her work schedule.

A source said, "Madonna is doing less than OK. She has been rehearsing for the tour and she is totally miserable.

"She's down physically and mentally. The situation with Guy is very, very tense. The way the press are going crazy with the A-Rod story, her brother's book and her physical exhaustion are all taking their toll.

"Family tension with her father and two of her other siblings has also been awkward.

"She feels nobody has taken her side. One of her closest pals says she has never seen Madonna so low. She has been feeling low and looking really gaunt.

"Madonna was told to go soft on work and rehearsals, so she will now take one proper day off every week and go easy in the mornings.

"She has a blood analysis done every few days — including one during last Friday's rehearsal in front of everyone."

Spears, meanwhile, has been nominated for a VMA for her Piece of Me video.

Singer Britney Spears could have the cooperation of Mexican musician Carlos Santana on her new album, which secretly recorded several weeks in Los Angeles, California.

According to a music magazine, Spears loves the sound of the guitar player who could contribute and produce one of the songs on the new material that the interpreter recording of "Toxic" will possibly launch later this year.

The singer is recording these days the cooperation with the Mexican musician, according to the Mexican website Labotana.com, which quotes a music magazine from the United States.

Britney Spears’ former manager hopes to rekindle his friendship with the
troubled singer.

Sam Lutfi was prevented from seeing Britney after her parents took a
restraining order out against him following her breakdown earlier this year,
believing he was a negative influence on the ‘Toxic’ singer.

Sam is due in court for a review of the order – which forbids him from being
closer than 250 yards away from the star - on July 31 and is said to be
hopeful it will be lifted.

A source told In Touch Weekly magazine: “Sam believes that he and Britney
are still friends. If the restraining order is lifted, he’ll be back in her
life for sure.”

According to the insider, Sam still denies allegations made by Britney’s
mother Lynne that he drugged the singer and controlled her medications.

The source added: “Sam insists it will come out that the restraining order
was against the wrong guy. So lifting the order would give him the chance to
protect Britney from the vultures out there.”

Sam is due in court the same day Britney’s father’s co-conservator role is
set to be reviewed.

Jamie is currently jointly responsible for Britney’s personal and
professional affairs.

Britney Spears is definitely in the studio and working on a new album.

Yes, despite unclear signals from various gossip sites, I am told that Spears is working on a CD that Jive is expecting to get out by mid-December.

The album is a follow-up to "Blackout," the Spears album that tanked quickly after its release in late 2007.

How different will the new CD be from "Blackout"? Well, not a lot, really. Many of the same producers and writers will be on this one, too. The main difference will be that this time Spears won’t first self-destruct on the MTV Vide Music Awards and then have a public nervous breakdown while the album is being released.

One reason for the big push to put Britney back in stores is that she owes Jive a lot of money. If they can finish the album and get it out without incident, my guess is that Spears will go out on tour in 2009. Paparazzi, bloggers, this is advance notice to get ready!
