A source close to the singer – who plays Sydney’s Acer Arena tonight (Nov 20), before heading off to Brisbane – told the Chicago Sun Times: “She is very happy to be getting out of that country.”
And it seems Britters might never come back once she’s wrapped the final night of her ‘Circus’ tour.
A source said: “It’s been hard for her. She’s never been subjected to this level of criticism before. She hadn’t had an easy year of it before all this.”
The singer has been enjoying the sights of Sydney, nevertheless, and yesterday (Nov 19) took a trip around the Harbour in a private boat. One mole told us: “She’s licking her wounds at the moment after all the negative press. She just wants to keep her head down and be gentle on herself. ”
Meanwhile, Michael Buble, who’s also in Oz, has jumped to her defense saying the criticism is “nasty” and telling Aussie media to give the poor girl a break.
Michael told Melbourne’s Herald Sun: “You’d think she killed someone. Okay, she lip-synchs her show. People know that, they make the decision if they want to go and see her do that.
“Does she deserve the way she’s been completely bashed by the media here? No.”
We agree, Buble.
Oh Britterz, we understand why you might feel like giving the country and everyone in it the two-fingered salute, but millions of folk down here love you, sweetie. Honest.
We’d hate to think we’d never see you again. Or that a couple of viper-tongued journos had won…

It’s time to let her go (yeah) cuz she’s gone, cuz she’s gone, cuz she’s gone. Now Ladies does that make you cry? Now Fellas you have to say goodbye. Cuz Mona Lisa’s got to fly.

She was hardly wearing the outfit of a nurturing mother, but Britney Spears was happy to show her maternal side as she met some of her younger fans.
Spears, who will perform her final Sydney show tonight before heading to Brisbane, hung out with Randwick Children’s Hospital patients Jessica Sukkar, Amelia Sukkar and Sonia Tadros backstage after her concert on Tuesday night.
And the US pop princess has been playing the doting mother with her own children while in the harbour city, taking sons Sean Preston and Jayden James to Sydney Aquarium on Wednesday.
Spears, who has already performed three shows at Rod Laver Arena, will return to Melbourne with her Circus tour on November 27, and then finish in Adelaide on November 29.

We are all dancers for Britney Spears, accompanying her for her Australian tour. Had a great time here this morning with all the kids teaching them some dance moves which was then shown ‘live’ on the Today show nationally. The kids all have great spirits!

Canadian crooner MICHAEL BUBLE has defended BRITNEY SPEARS over her lip-synced shows – slamming Australian journalists for their harsh criticism of the star.
Spears has come under fire since she took her Circus tour Down Under, with many media outlets blasting her decision not to sing live.
The pop star was subsequently forced to dismiss rumours of a mass walkout at her gig in Perth earlier this month (06Nov09) when the press reported hordes of fans had left in disgust after they realised she was lip-syncing.
But now Buble has come out in defence of the Toxic hitmaker, insisting her fans can choose whether to see her gigs or not.
He says, “You’d think she killed someone. As an artist, and a human being, some of what has been written about her is so nasty. OK, she lip-syncs her show, people know that, they make the decision if they want to go and see her do that.”

Britney and crew backstage.

Happy movember y’all.
*Movember (a portmanteau of the words ‘Moustache’ and ‘November’), is an annual month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November. The event has been claimed to have been invented in 1999 by group of Australian men from Adelaide.
Since 2004, the Movember Foundation charity has run Movember events to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer and depression, in Australia and New Zealand.*

BRITNEY hitting Australia just one more time? After what has happened for her in just one week?
Don’t count on it, folks.
Fans have waited over 10 years for Britney Spears to announce her first Australian tour and before her Circus extravaganza has even hit Sydney, the pop princess is doing exactly what she does best. And no, it’s not performing.
It’s headlines.
I’m not having a “Leave Britney Alone” moment or excusing the fact that she mimes a two-hour show, but the international furore that has erupted over Spears’ lip-synching is far from a case of “oops she did it again” and rather “ya’ll, she’s done it her entire career!”
On an MTV awards stage two years ago, after releasing an album appropriately titled Blackout at the height of her public meltdown, the performer could barely stand up straight, let alone hold a note.
Her finances still remain under the conservatorship of her father and the custody of her two adorable boys still remains with ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
Just Youtube “Britney and paparazzi” and watch the videos of a girl crying on her doorstep surrounded by a flash frenzy, saying she just wants to “sit with my dog”.
Then log on to her official website and read the thousands – literally – of fan comments angry over her treatment by the Australian media.
That is, our treatment of a show Spears has taken all over the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Sweden and Russia and which remains unchanged, apart from the loss of a few Swarovski sequins along the way.
But only after one show in Perth, why has it become so controversial?
Considering her once-fairytale life is now replete with drama of Shakespearean proportions, we are just lucky she is here, let alone that she is going onstage on 14 different nights.
In what is possibly the only time the two people could ever be compared, Spears will no doubt follow the Frank Sinatra approach to Australia.
At the end of his tour in 1974, Sinatra infamously clashed with some Aussie journos at the airport, where the singer called the male reporters “bums and parasites” and the female reporters “buck-and-a-half-hookers”.
He was enraged by the way he had been portrayed in the press and did not return to our shores until 1991.
If the same applied for Brits, she will next tour at the age of 44.
By that time she will doubt have sinewy arms and the South American toyboy a la Madonna who, by the way, is pop royalty and has lip-synched throughout her career.
As also has Cher.
Oh, and what the hell – Leave Britney Alone!!!! There, I said it.

I hope you enjoy while you can, Australian fans, because Brit’s Brit ain’t coming back to your shores anytime soon.

Newspapers slammed Britney Spear’s first Australian show, saying that her lip synching had driven her fans away.
So the star arrived for her first show in Melbourne under a cloud of negative press; with her Circus show firmly under scrutiny.
After she played for the first time at Rod Laver Arena last night Matt and Jo asked fans to call and tell us what it was REALLY like: did anyone walk out? Were you annoyed by her lip synching?
We were amazed that 95% of the calls we received said that Britney and her show were great.
Chrissy from Brighton said “I think it’s just all the papers just making a big deal. They’ve been picking on her since she left the airport.”
Renata from Noble Park said “I have to say I did not see one person walk out. Everyone was on their feet dancing.”
Natalie from Somerville said it was “one of the best concerts I have ever been to.”
Natasha, who had won a coveted Loveseat by shaving her head on the Matt & Jo show had a frontrow seat for all the action. She said “it was amazing. Not just Britney, but the other performers were amazing too.”
Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback we got from Melbourne ‘The Herald Sun’ is still criticising Britney; “as a dancer she’s possibly the weakest link in her show.”

Nice to know that some of the Australian news media isn’t letting a little thing like facts get in the way of their hate, and here I thought American journalism was bad.

Adam (finally) confirmed there are currently no plans for a Circus Tour DVD, saying:
Sorry to disappoint guys. No plans for a Circus Tour DVD at the moment. Feel free to refrain from sending hate messages and cursing me out.
Also, Britney’s Twitter account was hacked again this morning, for which they apologized:
This morning, Britney’s Twitter was hacked. We apologize for any offense the message from the hacker caused and are working with Twitter on remedying the situation as quickly as possible.

Lets start by getting one thing straight. Rebekah Devlin, who started what quickly developed into Britney-gate this week in Australia, clearly got it very, very wrong. At the Britney Spears show tonight at Rod Laver Arena, there were no mass walk-outs, there were no disgruntled fans and the audience was genuinely entertained.
Just for the record, I am not a Britney fan but ‘Circus’ is a very good show. Forget the “but she mimes” argument. It is irrelevant for Britney. She is a popstar. She has never pretended to be a serious musical act like Radiohead. She is what she is and has never denied it.
Keep in mind at parts of their shows, Cher has lip-synched, Madonna lip-synchs, even Roger Waters did it. So lets just eliminate that from the scorecard and score the Britney show for what it is … a very entertaining show aimed at her core fans.
If you are a Britney fan, you are going to love ‘Circus’. It is over two hours of escapism and yes it is a real circus. Actually, if Ms. Devlin focused on the freak show featuring the midget or an amputee on a trampoline she might have been able to beat-up a better story. Did she even notice that? Not that it mattered. It was visually compelling.
Yes, a Circus it truly is, with magicians, acrobats, a tightrope and … was that Perez Hilton dressed up as The Queen?
The costume changes are covered up with musical segways. One featured Marilyn Manson ‘Sweet Dreams’ and another Michael Jackson ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Something’.
Lets give a special shout-out to the two kids in the front row. Britney’s children Sean and Jayden watched what Mom did for a living with Mom’s new beau Jason Trawick . For the record Ms Devlin, Jayden left earlier so your headline tomorrow should read “Even Britney’s Kid Can’t Stand Her”. Sean left before the encore, so you can beat that up into a headline as well.
In Vegas, this show would be up for “show of the year”. In Perth, based on a one-woman jury, it doesn’t rate at all. Melbourne, the home of Australian theatre, accepted another good show.
Britney is more than 90 shows into a world tour with Circus. How funny that Ms Devlin wasted her 15 minutes of fame on something that has never pretended to me anything more than a pop show.

BRITNEY Spears has hit back at critical media reports of her Circus tour, saying she came to Australia for her fans.
The pop star arrived in the country last week amid controversy over her lip-synching stage performance, and soon faced reports that disappointed fans walked out of her opening show in Perth.
Spears has been keeping a low profile since arriving in Melbourne earlier this week, but she responded to the criticism.
“I hear there is a lot of controversy in the media about my show,” Spears said in a statement.
“Some reporters have said they love it and some don’t. I came to Australia for my fans!”
Spears is due to play the first of three sold-out shows in Melbourne on Wednesday night, and has been indulging in some retail therapy.
“Went shopping on Collins Street yesterday and got a lot of my Christmas presents. Melbourne is beautiful. Can’t wait to see more. -Britney,” she wrote on Twitter.
Aussie DJ Havana Brown, who is touring with Spears, said she is surprised by the savaging the pop princess has received here.
Brown said there was no negative reaction from fans and the media about lip-synching and lacklustre performances in Europe, where they toured before Australia.
“I think it’s quite well known that she has lip-synched in the past. I don’t think it’s any surprise to anybody,” Brown said.
“There was nothing like that in Europe. I think everyone knew what they were in for, and I think everyone should know here as well.
“I’m not quite sure what the fuss is about.”
Brown was personally chosen by Spears’ father and manager to open the Circus tour in Europe and Australia.
The Melbourne native gets the crowds warmed up for Spears each night and then sits back to enjoy the spectacle.
She said there was an “incredible response” at the first two shows in Perth, and she hoped Aussie fans would make up their own minds about the concert.
“It’s sad. I want people to be positive about her – she’s doing so well, and she’s looking so good, and the show is amazing,” she said.
“I want everyone to make their own opinion, rather than be persuaded by what’s been in the media.”
